Belted Galloways are often humorously referred to as the OREO Cow, since they resemble the famous cookie. Descending from the Galloway Breed, they are larger in stature, heavier in milk production, and grow more rapidly than their forbearers.
Originating in Scotland, the Belties were first imported into the United States in 1950 by a gentleman named Harry Pock of Pennsylvania. |

The stunning contrast of their white to black color pattern sets this breed apart from ordinary black & white cattle. A distinctive white belt around the middle of their bodies may vary in width and regularity, but usually cover most of the body from the shoulders to the hocks. The fore part of the udder may be within the white belt. In the summertime, their black color may
exhibit a brownish tint.
